Students are really asking President Welty to cut his pay by $52,000 and give up his house? How, in any way, will that help the school?
28 October 2009 @ 09:06 pm
Well, I think I'm getting kind of sick. Stupid wind. I actually kind of like the wind but it always sends me sinuses crazy. So yeah, haven't been feeling all that great the last couple days. It's been soooooo windy too. Dang.

The mobsters that lived in the apartment in front of my parking spot are gone. I'm so glad. They kept parking in my spot. ugh. They were kind of scary too. So Vince (maintence man) and a painting crew have been cleaning up and what not.

Work has been good. I've enjoyed it. I've been getting out later than I have wanted to but the group of us are more like friends working together than just coworkers. It's been a lot of fun hanging out with everything. I've liked it a lot. I really like everyone I work with. We have fun and laugh... a lot a lot.

I went and saw evil adviser man yesterday and he was actually nice. He did complain about me not bringing a DARS report from the department office. I printed the DARS report from my Fresno State portal. psh. But he did say "take care" when I left. Shocker! haha

Turns out I have 18 units left to take. I could probably do that in one semester but then I wouldn't be able to work at The Collegian, and I want to. Sooo... I'm splitting it up into two semesters with taking mostly my required classes in the Spring and taking more fun classes the next semester. I really want to take one photography class while I'm at Fresno State, so I'm going to try to fit that into my semester.

So I would like to do The Collegian as long as I'm at Fresno State. Now I just have to decide what to do next summer. I'm thinking a summer internship. So I need to go talk to Betsy Hays who handles those types of things. And she's my instructor for my media ethics course.. so I'll probably go in and talk to her either Friday or Monday. I just really want my internship to be in Fresno.. or the surrounding areas.

I was supposed to get together with Sharon today to talk about Colossions 3-4 and Psalm 5-6 but I wasn't feeling well so we're rescheduling for Friday. Woot.

I think that's all for now. See ya!

So The Collegian received a love letter e-mail the other day. hahaha!!! This is what it said:

I am Esther by name,I got your address while surfing in Internet and I had a great desire and interest to write you, despite that,we have not yet seen or meet each other in person before,I am looking for something very seriously and I am not for any kind of games in the Internet,I only sent you this message with my intentions of knowing you as my a Real sincere and honest friend or maybe something more in the future if God  permits,
I know very well that you might have gotten so many mails from other peoples who probably wish to be your friend,so if you are pleased to write me back,I will also like to know you well and if you are interested to respond to this my message,I will get back to you in my next mail with some pictures of mine and tell you about my person, but I must first confirm that you are a very sincere and serious person before I can send you my pictures because I do not want to send my pictures to a person that is not a very serious person,I hope you will understand me very clear,
I am eagerly waiting for your mail so we can get to know each other better if only you are very serious and interested to write me back,
Please do not ever respond back to me if you are not a very sincere and serious person,
Thanks and Keep Smiling,Esther.

I'm at school. See? I totally live here. haha
I forgot to bring something to eat today and I forgot my interview notebook so I can't start writing my articles.  :( Booo! So I have a couple hours until class starts.

This weekend was good. Super busy. Went to the Apple Festival with Christina and her family. We had a lot of fun. I got to see some friendly faces.  I also got to talk to Valarie for a bit which was really good. I want to go visit her and Richard in San Jose sometime in the near future, so we can actually go out and do some things. :) That'd be good.

It all of sudden just got really windy and gloomy outside. It's kinda nice. Well, I'm not outside but I'm at my desk in The Collegian next to the window. 10% chance of rain today, so we'll see.

Umm... I saw the Beach Boys a couple weeks ago at the Fresno Fair with Sharon! They were really good and a lot of fun! :) I'm so glad that I was able to go!

Hm. I'm 22 in a month and 4 days! Daaang!
02 October 2009 @ 01:23 pm
Well, things have been really busy lately.
Work is going really well though.
I've actually gotten out really early lately. Last night I was out by 6:15!!! How awesome is that? I was sooo glad. I went to Kohl's to get more pants because I was down to only one pair and since it's getting cooler, I need more. So I got two pairs.... yay! So great. I also got a really cute dress for $13! It was 80 percent off! Weeee!

I've been interviewing and talking to some interesting people. I think that's my favorite thing about being a reporter; I meet a lot of really neat people. People I would have never even knew existed if I wasn't talking to them for a story. It's just fun.

I've also made a lot of friends being on the newspaper and having my newspaper workshop class. They're some really great people.

I need to talk to my adviser so I can see what else I need to take and/or do to graduate. I'm just dreading it because he scares me and I just really don't like him. And, it sucks because I think I might have him for a class with him next semester. I HAVE to have this class to graduate. There are several people that I'll know in the class though, so I'm glad for that. I just don't want to have him as a professor. Aghh. And neither does anyone else I know.

So next weekend, my friend Katie is getting married. Ah! Another friend. haha So I'm going down south with Sharon and Lisa to the wedding and staying with Lisa's brother (that's if it's okay with him that I go)! So I'm really excited to hang out with them! :) We'll have crazy fun! Woot! I also get to photograph the wedding. This will be my 2 1/2 wedding I've done. One was like 3 years ago and the other was like... 2 years ago.  the half is because I only took pictures at the reception at one of them. I'm excited though. It'll give me even more experience. Although, photographing weddings makes me nervous. It's someone's wedding, that's a once in a lifetime opportunity (for some) and I don't want to screw up the pictures. I think it'll be fine though. :)

I've also decided that I really want to go to Minnesota to see Anna, Bria, and Laura. I miss those ladies. One of these days, I will!

The fair starts next week. I got a press pass! How cool is that? I wish I could see the Beach Boys. I grew up listening to them. Seriously, if you asked me what music/band I remember listening to when I was younger, it'd be the Beach Boys. They're playing on Thursday night and I work on Thursday night!  Bummer. Although, if I get out early enough (which I have been) then I'll definitely head over there. I won't be in the seats by the stage but I'll at least be able to watch them! :) So I really hope I can get out early enough!

This weekend I'm home alone. I'm looking forward to it though. I enjoy having the apartment all to myself.
I have class in 20 minutes then I'm heading over to Sharon's because we're going over the first part of Esther together.

I think that's all for now, loves. Bye!

Edit: I got to talk to my friend Gabriel from Brasil on Skype today. It was awesome! I misssss that guy!
10 September 2009 @ 11:40 am
I would really like to write in this more often.

I am now in my third week of school. Things are going pretty well. Assignments are finally starting to come in. Not sure how I feel about that. I am enjoying all my classes though!

Working at The Collegian is going pretty well. I like it there. Just waiting for people to get their job done so that I can get my job done... sucks. Seriously, I could probably get out of there HOURS earlier if I didn't have to wait on other people. I'm still not so sure what takes them so long to get their work done. The other night was HORRIBLE... I had a full color page with two stories and absolutely no graphics. Luckily, we improvised and got the page looking fairly decent. Decent enough to print anyway.

My new laptop came in the mail last night! Yay! It's so... so... beautiful! haha

Also, I had someone's car towed last night. I have had so many problems with cars parking in my spot. I'm more than sure it's those mobsters whose apartment is in front of my parking spot. Seriously, they have parked there like 10 times (I wish I was exaggerating). I thought I was done with them parking there because both Rose and I are parking there so they KNOW someone owns that spot. And yet, last night I come home from a church fundraiser and there they are. I have left notes, my mom saw someone get into the car and told them that it was my parking spot, and nothing has changed. So last night I decided it was time I stop letting them walk all over me (or park all over me? hehe), so after talking it out a bit with my roomies, I decided I had given them enough chances and called the towing company. The guy got here and he was really nice. He was all, "Seriously? Every red zone in the complex is relaxed because of construction and they HAVE to park in your spot? Seriously?" haha I KNOW! So yeah, I feel bad for doing it but it was time to do something about it. AGH!

I think that's about it for now. LUNCH TIME! :)

I got an e-mail today from the public information officer for the University Police Department (she's the Public Relations person for the department if you aren't sure) on campus about my article I wrote for Wednesday's paper. It basically made my day and it meant a lot to me that she would take the time to write it. Here's what it said:

I just wanted to compliment you on your article about parking that ran in yesterdays paper. I am interviewed by hundreds of students every year and I have a pile of articles I have been quoted in. I just would like to say I am very impressed with your journalism skills. You wrote a very well rounded article. I appreciate you quoting me correctly and also getting the opinions of students. You did a fantastic job! Please do not hesitate contacting me for future stories! Have a great semester!

Seriously! How cool is that? :)
Here's the article: http://collegian.csufresno.edu/2009/09/02/how-can-you-get-a-parking-ticket/

And here's the video that went along with my article: http://collegian.csufresno.edu/2009/09/01/steer-clear-of-parking-problems/

Now, it's off to lunch with Sharon! :)

I've been thinking and writing an entry about Brazil but I just don't think that I can do that trip justice in the words that I would write. It was a great trip. It surpasses all the other trips like this one I have been on.

School has started.
Work started two weeks ago.

I eat, sleep, and breathe The Collegian... or so it seems.

Things are going well though. Maybe one of these days I'll give you guys something better to read, but for now, this is it.
I'm exhausted!
26 June 2009 @ 02:48 pm
Well, I've been in Porterville for a couple of weeks now. It's going pretty good. I have great friends who I hang out with and keep me busy. I started babysitting for Jenny Landucci. She has two boys and a baby girl. CRAZY kids. Those boys have a bunch of energy. It's nothing I can't handle though.

I've hung out with Allyssa and Christina quite a bit. I've been working out with Christina and Dd at Dd's house. She has a mini workout room in her garage. I haven't been this week though because of Vacation Bible School. So hopefully I'll continue the workout next week. I can only imagine how hot it is in there now though because there's no air in there...we just open up the garage some and she has a fan in there.

Anyway, VBS has gone really well. I wasn't sure that I would be able to be there so I didn't sign up for anything. So I went on Monday just to work wherever I was needed. I'm there to serve! So I ended up working in Registration (of course) and after I'm done there, I go and work in Snacks. So it's busy nights! I'm so sad tonight is the last night but glad too because it's tiring and it'll be good to have my nights back! But as of last nght we had 151 kiddos registered! SO AWESOME! :)

Sam is coming down here on Saturday and I'm heading up to Fresno on Sunday. Yay! :)
That is all for now.

Long time, no real entry.
Welp, things have slowed down here for me.
School is over. Teri is gone. Sam works all day. I'm home along all day.
Good stuff.

Sam and I have had a couple adventures these last couple weekends! We went to Pismo on Memorial Day Weekend -- Saturday. It was so much to just get away and hang out with each other and not have to worry about getting home to do homework and study! Great stuff! The weather was crazy insane though! SO WINDY! I thought I was going to blow away... Okay, not. But yeah, we had a blast!

Then this last Saturday we went to Yosemite! That was SO much fun!!!!! The weather was insane. It was thunderstormy and kind of scary at times because we were so high up. At one point, there was this dude that had long hair and some of his hair was standing on end. Too much electricity in the air which means that lightening could strike. So we left that area. haha. As far as I know, lightening didn't strike. I never realized that it was SUCH a touristy area. The majority of the people we crossed paths with didn't speak english! It was kinda neat.

There was this one place we saw, down in "Yosemite Valley" that was my most favorite place there! It was amazing. I saw there was an opening between some trees so I went down this tiny hill (not really a hill more like a slump or something) and walked in between this two trees. In front of me was like this... whole different place it seemed. There was this huge green meadow with some trees and then mountains surrounding the meadow. There was a waterfall on the mountain. The sky was blue with white puffy clouds. Then later on there was a deer there, eating. It was just so amazing and so peaceful. And it was out of the way so there wasn't anyone really around. It was just so great.

Heck, I'll just show you a picture!! The picture doesn't do it justice though!

So yeah, fun adventures!

Umm.. last week I hung out with Sharon for the last time for a while because she left for Brazil and she'll be there for 10 weeks! I'm excited that I get to see her and Kristi in July when I'm in Brazil! I'm hoping that they'll be able to meet us at the airport! It's just so cool that they get to do this. They're such amazing girls and I know that they are going to do great things while they're there! :)

I'm house-sitting the Clark's house this weekend so I'm pretty stoked for that! I get to sleep in their HUGE bed! yes! AND they have a pool! woot!

I go back to Porterville next week sometime. Kinda sad I won't be living on my own for a couple of months!
Hmm... what else... I leave for Brazil in like a month and a half! crazy!!!! OH! Tim told me that the theme for the dress-up day is "Out of this world" So that basically means... alien.. star wars... star trek... I think I'm going to totally be a trekkie (since that's cool now :P) and dress up like one of them! Costumes are like 40 bucks though so I'm thinking about how I could make one.. hmm...

I think that's it! bye!
